St. Margarets, Great Ayton North Yorkshire

Brief

To design a new church accommodating 130 people which will integrate with the existing wooden hall which will continue to be  used for social functions.

Solution

An octagonal solution was proposed in order to achieve the interaction desired between congregation and the priest conducting the service. The octagon is expressed internally with exposed laminated timber beams and timber roof and the space is supplemented by an adjacent meeting / overspill area separated by a full height frameless glass folding wall. We also designed the two stained glass windows for the Sanctuary and rear chapel.
