Marske Hall and Cottages
Brief
Marske Hall is a 17th Century Grade 1 listed building built as a home for the Pennyman Family. Acquired later by the Marquis of Zetland, it was purchased by The Leonard Cheshire Foundation in 1960’s for use as a residential care home for people with severe physical and mental disabilities
Solution
We were appointed as Buildings Manager with responsibilities to care for the fabric of the building and to design and oversee various construction projects aimed at providing the residents with improved facilities which comply with current care standards. As part of this work, we converted the former Grade 2 workshops within the grounds of the Hall into six residential units for wheelchair users providing independent living units supported by the care system available on site.
