Brougham Enterprise Centre
Brief Working in partnership with Building Consultancy at Hartlepool Borough Council, DKS provided design services to look at updating and rationalising an existing enterprise centre housed within a Victorian school to maximise occupency and provide a new contemporary identity.
Solution
By rationalising the existing layout of units it was possible to take the opportunity to relocate similar units together to provide a distinct split between light industry and commercial operations. With an improved layout units could then benefit from improved natural light and easier access to shared meeting rooms and welfare facilities. To improve survellience and provide a dynamic new entrance foyer the administration of the centre was moved into a new double height atrium designed to complement the existing roofline but with due to the tapering overhang present a dynamic entrance welcoming visitors and clients
